How to install ConfigServer Firewall

By -

This is just a quick walk through on installing ConfigServer Firewall on your server.

The install for CSF is pretty simple. Just a few command lines and it is installed and ready to be configured.

Open Putty or Terminal and login to the server as root. Use the following command to download the csf package.

wget http://www.configserver.com/free/csf.tgz

Next you will need to unpackage the software using the following command.

tar -xzf csf.tgz

Once the file is unpacked you need to switch into that directory.

cd csf

Now you need to run the following command to install the ConfigServer Firewall.

sh install.sh

You can now switch back to the root directory.

cd ~

The next step is to make sure the required iptables are installed on your server. To do this, run the following command.

perl /usr/local/csf/bin/csftest.pl

You should get an something like this if everything went fine.

If you had APF+BFD installed prior to installing CSF, you need to run the following command to remove them.

sh /usr/local/csf/bin/remove_apf_bfd.sh

You should be able to login to WHM and configure the ConfigServer Firewall now. You will find it in WHM/Plugins/ConfigServer Security & Firewall.
